FAQ-Massage Services

  • Q: What do I need to do to prepare for my massage?

To get the most out of your session, please arrive a few minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork and allow time to relax before your appointment. Wear comfortable clothing and stay well hydrated before and after your massage. Avoid eating a heavy meal immediately beforehand. If you have any injuries, health concerns, or specific areas you’d like addressed, please let your therapist know prior to the session so your treatment can be tailored to your needs.

  • Q: What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

    Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made less than 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment, or failure to attend (no-show), will result in a charge to the card on file for the full cost of the booked service.

    Late Arrivals:
Late arrivals may result in a shortened treatment duration to accommodate scheduling constraints while maintaining the full service fee.

  • Q: Can I receive a massage during my first trimester?

Yes, massage during the first trimester is generally safe for most clients. It is a common misconception that receiving a massage during early pregnancy may cause a miscarriage. In reality, massage does not cause miscarriage, and many clients find it helpful for reducing stress, easing discomfort, and promoting relaxation during pregnancy. Your therapist will always use appropriate techniques and positioning to ensure your comfort and safety. If you have any specific medical concerns or a high-risk pregnancy, please consult your healthcare provider before your appointment.

  • Q: How do I prepare my baby for an infant massage?

To help your baby have the best experience, please arrive with your baby well-fed —preferably at least 30 minutes prior to the appointment —comfortable, and in clean, easy-to-remove clothing. Bringing familiar items such as a favorite blanket, pacifier, or diaper bag essentials can help your baby feel calm and secure. Infant massage sessions are baby-led, meaning we follow your baby’s cues and comfort level throughout the appointment.

  • Q: Why do you take pediatric massage clients starting at age 6 and not younger?

Pediatric massage sessions are offered beginning at age 6 because children at this stage are typically better able to communicate their comfort level, provide feedback, and actively participate in the session process. This helps ensure that the treatment remains safe, supportive, and effective for each child. This age guideline helps create a positive and appropriate experience tailored to each child’s stage of development.

  • Q: What are the age guidelines for parent or guardian presence during pediatric massage sessions?

For the safety and comfort of all pediatric clients, parent or guardian presence is based on the child’s age:

Ages 6–9: A parent or guardian is required to remain in the therapy room with the child for the entire session.

Ages 10–15: A parent or guardian may leave the therapy room but must remain on the premises for the full duration of the session.

Ages 16–17: With signed parental or guardian consent, the child may attend sessions without a parent or guardian present.

  • Q: Do I Pay the Contract in Full?

Nope, we bill on a monthly basis, with payment due within 7 business days of the start of the new month. At the end of each month you’ll receive an invoice detailing the hours worked. Full payment for the month is expected, and we ask that payment be made promptly to ensure continued service.

  • Q: Do you require a retainer fee?

  • Q: What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

Our contract will outline our cancellation and rescheduling policy. Generally, we ask for a 24 hour minimum notice for rescheduling hours. Any terminations of signed contracts will incur a termination fee of 50% of the remaining balance for unused hours. Specifics will be covered in the contract to ensure clarity for both parties.

  • Q: How do I know if a postpartum doula support is right for me?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, need extra support with baby care, or want guidance on postpartum recovery, a doula can be a great fit. Our goal is to provide personalized, non-judgmental support tailored to your family’s needs.

  • Q: Are postpartum doulas covered by insurance?

Postpartum doula services are generally not covered by standard insurance, but some families may be able to use Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) to pay for services. We recommend checking with your insurance provider for more details.

  • Q: Will the postpartum doula assist with overnight support?

At this time, we do not offer overnight support. However, we are happy to provide daytime assistance with infant care, breastfeeding support, and postpartum recovery to help you feel supported during the day.
